TRANSPORTATION AIR SERVICE Durango/La Plata County Airport 's modern terminal facility is located 14 miles southeast of Durango. Commercial air service, both jet and turboprop, is provided by America West Express, United Express, Rio Grande Air and American Airlines. Rental cars are available through Hertz, Avis, Enterprise, Rent A Wreck and Dollar. Charter flights are offered by several local companies. The Durango LIFT operates a city shuttle service; Durango Transportation provides 24-hour taxi service, airport shuttle and charter bus service. HIGHWAY ROUTES U.S. Highway 160 connects with Interstate Highway 25 and Interstate Highway 40. US Highway 550 connects with Interstate Highway 70 north to Denver and south to Albuquerque. TRUCK SERVICE Several common carriers provide service to Durango. Four major carriers have regional offices in Durango; Northwest Transport, RAC Transport and United Van Lines. Other smaller freight carriers operate out of Durango and include Federal Express, UPS, Airborne Express and Kangaroo Express. |
