State Income Tax
Tax rate is 4.75% of taxable income.
Sales & Use Tax
Tax totals 7.4% and is comprised of 2.9% state, 2% county and 2.5% city. Within the Durango Enterprise Zone, the purchase of equipment and machines or tools used exclusively for manufacturing in the zone are exempt from the 2.9% state sales/use tax.
Lodger's Tax
A tax of 2% is collected on all lodging properties in the county and city.
Property Tax
Property is assessed at 29% of actual value for industrial and commercial and at 9.74% for residential. La Plata County tax information.

TRANSPORTATION
AIR SERVICE
Durango/La Plata County Airport 's modern terminal facility is located 14 miles southeast of Durango. Commercial air service, both jet and turboprop, is provided by America West Express, United Express, Rio Grande Air and American Airlines. Rental cars are available through Hertz, Avis, Enterprise, Rent A Wreck and Dollar. Charter flights are offered by several local companies. BUS SERVICE
Greyhound/TNM&O serves Durango with package express and passenger charter service nationwide. The Durango LIFT operates a city shuttle service; Durango Transportation provides 24-hour taxi service, airport shuttle and charter bus service.
HIGHWAY ROUTES
U.S. Highway 160 connects with Interstate Highway 25 and Interstate Highway 40. US Highway 550 connects with Interstate Highway 70 north to Denver and south to Albuquerque.
TRUCK SERVICE
Several common carriers provide service to Durango. Four major carriers have regional offices in Durango; Northwest Transport, RAC Transport and United Van Lines. Other smaller freight carriers operate out of Durango and include Federal Express, UPS, Airborne Express and Kangaroo Express.
